Legal Services Consumer Panel
Our role is to provide independent advice to the Legal Services Board about the interests of users of legal services. We do this by investigating issues that affect consumers and by seeking to influence decisions about how lawyers are regulated.
The Panel consists of eight lay people, who bring expertise from a range of backgrounds, and is supported by a small policy secretariat.
We are located inside the Legal Services Board, which allows us to put across the consumer view from the beginning to the end of the policy-making process. However, the Consumer Panel is fully independent of the Board – we commission and carry out independent research, advise the LSB on the interests of consumers, and scrutinise the LSB’s work on behalf of consumers.
